My First β€œYes, Oh Yas!” Box! | January 2019

You guys!!! I am SO excited to be an official influencer/ambassador for Yes, Oh Yas! I just received my first subscription package from them, and as a loyal Ipsy glam bag subscriber, I am ECSTATIC to receive five full size products that seem like excellent quality (minus one product that I will get into below)!

Yes, Oh Yas! is an up and coming subscription box brand ($15 a month) that always includes 3-7 full size beauty products. January’s Box/Bag has a total retail value of $70!

REMEMBER: I have promised to hold these products to the same standard of quality as the other products that I review, whether that be here on the blog, YouTube or my social media (leighann key beauty everywhere).

Keep in mind that I have only swatched these products thus far, and these first impressions are based upon those swatches (up on my Instagram now😘).

To see live application and multiple hour wear test of these products watch the video belowπŸ‘‡πŸ»πŸ‘‡πŸ»πŸ‘‡πŸ»

First Impressions (Swatches):

1. Crown Pro (Crown Brushes) “OMG” (disclaimer: I do not like that expression) Palette:

Retail Value- $10

This palette is BEAUTIFUL and right up my alley! My favorite shades to wear are warm and jewel tones, so this is just 😍😍😍! This swatched beautifully! From the swatches I can tell that the shadows are very soft and buttery, and have a bright, yet buildable pigmentation. If this applies and wears well, this will be my new favorite palette!!

2. NCLA Luxury Gold Glitter Lacquer:

Retail Value- $21.00

This was my second favorite item in the bag! The glitter is beautiful and suspended in a clear nail polish, making it perfect for layering on top of any color. It is really just your standard glitter polish, but I really like it, and I can tell that it is good quality.

3. Inmo Cosmetics Universe’s Star Highlighter In “Twilight”:

Retail Value- $10

I was very happy to see this product because I have really been wanting to try some products from this brand! This swatched really nicely. It was soft and buttery, and can be built up for an intense highlight. The orange-y peach shade is a bit dark for my very light skin tone, but I think I will get some use out of this product because I like to push the envelope with color sometimes (I mean, guys, occasionally I wear purple highlighter!). So I counted this product as a plus.πŸ™‚

{I just wanted to stop here and say -> You cannot customize the shades of these products to fit your skin tone, like you can with Ipsy. There is no customer profile. I am assuming this is because Yes, Oh Yas! is a smaller brand and just may not have those capabilities yet. That said, I don’t think they typically include products like foundations in their subscriptions.}

4. Appeal Cosmetics Loose Pigment in “Charcoal”:

Retail Value- $21

I have been loving playing and experimenting with loose and pressed pigments lately, so I was happy to receive this product as well. This is a very pretty charcoal gray shade, with glitter in it! This swatched very smoothly, and looks gorgeous, but I don’t think I will personally get a lot of use out of this product, just because I don’t typically wear smoky eyes or colors that are this dark. This will be incorporated into the look in my wear test video, so stay tuned.

5. Beauty Creations Longwear Matte Lip Gloss In “Mocha”:

Retail Value- $8

This is basically a liquid lipstick. This was my least favorite product in the bag. I am not totally opposed to the color (as it is an orangish, brownish nude), but the way this swatched was not the greatest. Well, really the swatch was fine until I tried to remove it. This stuff STUCK to my hand. When it finally started to come off, the product started to peel and ball up. (This makes me think that it would crack while being worn on the lips.) It also left a stain on my hand. I am not crazy about the smell of this one either; it has a slight strawberry smell… it’s just not my favorite. But, who knows, maybe this product will be super smooth and long wearing!?

For your reference, this card was included in my subscription bag this month.πŸ‘‡πŸ»πŸ‘‡πŸ»πŸ‘‡πŸ»

Trying the Makeup Eraser | Limited Edition Pineapple Print Set

I recently picked up the Makeup Eraser from Sephora. This is not necessarily a new product, and I have been super skeptical of this product in the past. How can a piece of cloth remove ALL of my makeup with just water?? I saw this limited edition pineapple print set, that included a wet bag and a sleeping mask, and decided to try it out as I was in need of a sleeping mask anyway. I was pretty surprised at how this product performed!

I wasn’t quite sure how to use this product, so I took to YouTube to educate myselfπŸ€“The video below was created by SephoraπŸ‘‡πŸ»πŸ‘‡πŸ»πŸ‘‡πŸ»

I want to break down each part of this set, and go in depth on how this product worked for me.

1. The Makeup Eraser- This stuff removes my makeup really well! I was a bit shocked at how well this worked for me!

I tried this both with a more natural makeup look, and a bolder liner and liquid lipstick to really see how well this would remove my makeup.

As I expected, this removed my complexion makeup very easily. I had to go over the eye area a few times to get all of my mascara off, but it did remove all of my makeup, and it didn’t irritate my eye area, or feel super rough! I’m super impressed!

This product also removed my liquid lipstick with no problem at all. I had to go over my eye area even more this time, but it did remove all of the liner and mascara without irritating my eyes! The only thing that did not completely come off of my face was my brow gel (the NYX Proof It! Waterproof Eyebrow Primer). This gel is very VERY thick and waxy, and can be hard to remove with makeup remover as well.

It removed all of my eye makeup, and gently exfoliated my face, so I am very happy with the performance of the Makeup Eraser.😍

2. The Wet Bag- This bag was a nice addition to the set. The material of the bag has a plastic-y feel, that prevents moisture from leaking out of the bag.

Personally, I would not use this bag everyday because I feel like the Makeup Eraser would mildew. Any time you put a damp fabric in a closed space for an extended amount of time, it gets a weird smell and has the potential to mold. I will be hanging my Makeup Eraser on a towel rack to dry after each use, but I do feel like this bag would be great for travel, where you may not have a space to hang this up or the luxury to throw this in the wash.

3. The Sleeping Mask- This was also a nice addition to the set. The underneath of the mask has a soft pink layer, almost a fleece-like feel, that feels really comfortable on the face. This mask also does a good job at blocking out light, which is the whole point of an eye mask. My only complaint is that the elastic band is pretty tight for my taste, and I feel like my head is fairly small. So keep that in mind if you are prone to headaches, because the tight band has been a bit irritating.

Overall, I am really happy with this set. The Makeup Eraser has really worked well for me, and the add ons are a great bonus. This print is also SUPER FUN!🍍🍍🍍

If you have been wanting to try out the Makeup Eraser, I think this is a very good way to do it. I hope this was helpful!

Sweet Pink Valentine’s Day Eye Look | Using New Products From Sephora

I recently picked up some makeup products from the “Just Arrived” section of the Sephora app, and I thought it would be super fun to create a sweet, pink eye look that would be perfect for Valentine’s Day!πŸ˜πŸ’–

This post will only focus on how I created this eye look, but if you are interested in my thoughts on each of these products, in typical review fashion, check out the video below πŸ‘‡πŸ»πŸ‘‡πŸ»πŸ‘‡πŸ»

For the base of my eye look I am using the Ulta Beauty 3-Sided Eye and Face Palette, which is not new, and is obviously not from Sephora.πŸ˜‚

1. Apply a peach shade all over the lids as a base. Apply a lighter, warm brown shade into the crease and onto the lower lash line.

2. Apply a shimmery, light pink shade to the first third of the lid. (I did use a blush shade here because I liked the gold duo-chrome effect of this product. I know not everyone is comfortable with using complexion products on the eye area, so use your own discretion, but I have had no problems with either of the powders in the Natasha Denona Mini Diamond Glow.)

3. Apply a pink and blue duo-chrome shade to the last two thirds of the lid. (I recommend my new favorite pigment in “Holo Mulberry” from Metallist.πŸ’– You can see that this one definitely comes across more pink than blue, which I like.)

4. Apply a glittery, golden shade to the inner corner. Buff the shade used on the majority of the lid, onto the lower lash line.

5. Deepen up the crease and lower lash line with a darker brown shade. Highlight the brow bone with a matte, cream shade.

I feel like this look is wearable without false lashes, but I wanted to try the new #LASHSTORIES “Lashaway” lashes from the Sephora Collection. I REALLY like them. They added just the perfect amount of drama.😍

I know I say this just about every time I post an eye tutorial, but this look was SO FUN to create!!! And it’s soft and romantic for Valentine’s DayπŸ˜πŸ˜˜πŸ’–. I paired this with a nude lipstick (see the video aboveπŸ˜‰), but this would also look BEAUTIFUL with a light pink metallic (I recommend “Dark Pink Frost” Silk Finish Lipstick from Wet N’ Wild. It’s very smooth and it only costs about a dollar!)

I hope this post was helpful, fun, and maybe inspirational for those of you looking for a Valentine’s Day look! I hope you enjoyed. I did!!πŸŒΈπŸ’–

Juvia’s Place: Eyeshadow Formula Review

I recently picked up the Magic Mini Palette from Juvia’s Place, and I am LOVING the fun looks that I have created with this palette! After hearing great reviews about the Juvia’s Place eyeshadow formula, I thought I would give my thoughts…

(My poor complexion was struggling when I created the look above.😱 It’s in better shape now.πŸ’–)

1. Color Selection- The shade range in this palette is beautiful! There is a nice base shade, a nice transition and tons of great colors! If you have brown eyes, these colors will make your eyes pop! I love the pinks, purples, greens, and blues! You could also create a simple daytime look or a warm neutral look with this palette. I love that there are colorful matte shades thrown in there, too.

2. Pigmentation- These shadows are not the most pigmented that I have seen, but they are very buildable. I think this makes the colorful shades more wearable, as you can kind of adjust the intensity for an everyday pop of color, or a bold, extravagant look.

3. Application- One thing to note about this formula, is that the shadows are kind of scratchy. This makes them a bit more difficult to blend, but they are not too hard to work with. I have gotten some really nice end results with this palette, but, in my experience, it does take some patience. There is also some fallout, so I would recommend doing your eye makeup before your complexion, especially if you’re going to use the darker shades in this palette.

4. Wear- I feel like these shadows wore very well. I noticed a small amount of shimmer that had transferred into my eye crease, and some slight fading of the lid shade just below the crease, but that was it. Both of these things happen frequently with my eyeshadow because I have very oily lids, and usually skip the eye primer. (I know, I should really use it!) No real trouble with the wear time at all!

Taking everything into account, I really, really like the formula of these shadows! I can use a light hand to add a small touch of color, or go all out and create something bold! Though it’s not a huge issue, my only real complaint would be the scratchy texture of the shadows, which just makes them a bit difficult to blend. At the end of the day, I can confidently say that this is a really nice palette full of variety! If you’ve been wondering about the Juvia’s Place shadow formula, it gets a thumbs up from me. There just *may* be a formula that I like better though… hint hint -> Colourpop.

If you want to see live application and a wear test of these two brands side by side check this out!πŸ‘‡πŸ»πŸ‘‡πŸ»πŸ‘‡πŸ»

Also, if all goes well, Wednesday’s blog post will involve a video tutorial of the eye look featured in today’s post so make sure to tap that follow button on the free WordPress app. Thanks so much!!😘

I hope you guys enjoyed!
