Makeup From the Dollar Store That I Can’t Put Down!

It seems to me that there is a certain stigma around products from the Dollar Store, Dollar General, etc.

If it’s that cheap, it can’t be good, right?

I have purchased makeup products from these places that I didn’t love, but, like at any store, I have also found products that I do enjoy!

I want to share three makeup products with you today, that I picked up from the Dollar General, and haven’t stopped using since!

1. Wet n Wild Coloricon Bronzer in “Ticket to Brazil”:

First of all, that pan size… (Marc Jacob vibes, anyone?)

This shade has been amazing for me! If you have a very fair skin tone and even “light-toned” bronzers look too deep for you, try this one!

This adds a nice natural bit of warmth and light to the face, as it does have shimmer in it. (It’s not glittery, or anything like that.)

To put it plainly, this is like my dream bronzer, and I’m not saying that lightly!

2. L.A. COLORS Browie Wowie Brow Pencil in “Light/Medium”:

I have definitely tried some products from this brand that I did not like, but this one is great!

This shade is definitely more on the medium side of things. If you are blonde this is probably not for you.

The brow pencil itself has a triangular shaped tip that makes it really fast to fill in the brows. The tip also helps me to create a nice point to the ends of my brows.

This formula is blendable, but not overly creamy. Just to give you an idea, the CoverGirl Ultrafine Brow Pencil has a bit stiffer consistency than this one. Speaking of which, the Browie Wowie has replaced my CoverGirl Pencil, and I really like that one!

3. Wet n Wild PhotoFocus Natural Finish Setting Spray:

Lastly, this setting spray is another product that I am reaching for on a daily basis.

I have a very oily complexion, and this helps to absorb the oils on my face without dulling my complexion.

I like to pair this with a dewy foundation, but it works over a matte face as well.

The mister is really even on this one, but it is a touch aggressive, so keep that in mind, but I just overlook it because I absolutely love the finish of this spray!

I hope these little reviews were helpful for you guys! I still stand by the belief that the quality of a product is not determined by the price!

If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

Princess Jasmine Inspired Hair Tutorial (Easy)

Hey guys! My YouTube channel recently hit ten thousand views, and I wanted to recreate Princess Jasmine’s eye makeup as a fun way to celebrate. (The idea for this video came from a recent blog post👇🏻

https://lkbunedited.home.blog/2019/03/20/new-product-alert-mac-x-aladdin/ )

I also wanted to create a Princess Jasmine inspired hair style to wear in that video, so I thought I would share the steps that I took to create this look today.

This hair style is just inspired by her look. I wanted to create something a bit different, that also fits my casual, laid back style.

(I don’t have any makeup on in this post because I filmed the eye tutorial after styling my hair. Here’s a sneak peak!👇🏻)

Here are the simple steps that I took to create this hairstyle today:

1. Start with wavy hair. Part hair in the middle.

2. Place a headband or ribbon (I would recommend either black or blue), about two inches from the hairline.

3. Place or pin the headband or ribbon in place, making sure that any pins are covered by your hair.

4. Take the section of hair in front of the band or ribbon, and divide it into two sections: one large, and one very small section.

5. Pin the larger section to the back of your head. (Do this on both sides.)

Sorry these next few shots look so weird! The lighting was really off!

6. Take both larger sections that you just pinned to the back of your head in one hand, remove the pins with the other hand, and tie both sections of hair together with an elastic.

7. Tie another elastic about one inch below the first one.

8. Hold the second elastic in one hand, and the piece of hair in the other hand. Then, pull the elastic upwards.

9. Repeat as many times as desired!

That’s all there is to this little tutorial! I hope you found this fun and helpful! If you liked this, go subscribe to my YouTube channel, so you won’t miss that 10k video tomorrow! (There will be a giveaway with three winners!😘)

I hope you had an AMAZING Monday!!!

Ipsy Update: Helios Smart Nail Polish

I just wanted to do a quick review of this nail polish today, because I wasn’t able to test and review this by the time my March Ipsy post went up. I think I have really nailed down how I feel about this polish, so this post should be fairly brief.

According to the packaging this is a “13-free” formula. It claims to be free of formaldehyde, toluene, camphor, formaldehyde resin, ethyl tosylamide, xylene, rosin, TPHP (triphenyl phosphate), triclosan, parabens, and phthalates. It also claims to be cruelty free and vegan, which they are including in their “13-free” marketing.

Though I really have to take their word on this one, I did notice that this nail polish has less of a chemical smell than other nail polishes that I have used, which could be because it does not contain those thirteen things.

Another claim that the packaging makes, is that this polish could wear for up to ten days. My polish wore for the standard three to four days before chipping. Though I didn’t have the top coat suggested on the packaging (I used one that I already owned), I just have a hard time believing that their top coat will make that much of a difference.

To put it plainly, I like that this polish doesn’t have as strong of a chemical smell, but, other than that, I think it is just okay. At the $12.50 price point, I would just grab a polish from the drugstore instead.

I was happy to get this in my Ipsy bag, but it’s not something that I would purchase directly from the brand.

I hope this post helped you in some way! Have a FANTASTIC WEEKEND!!!😎

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

Affordable Dupes for the New MAC X Aladdin Collection!! {Still Jasmine Themed!}

*All pictures in this post belong to the respective name on the social media or brand website screenshot, and are not my own.*

(Post cover photo is from eatseedisney’s Instagram account.)

If your social media feed looks anything like mine, I’m sure you have heard the news! Disney is releasing a live action version of the Aladdin movie in May of this year! (Some say May 24 is the exact date…)

Along with this movie release, Disney has done a collaboration with MAC Cosmetics to produce an Aladdin themed makeup collection that will also release in May. It appears that the actress that plays Jasmine is even wearing this collection in the movie! How cool is that?!💋

Even though I am super excited about this collection, I don’t think I will be purchasing anything because I have found much more affordable options that still include Princess Jasmine!

I want to look at each piece in this collaboration and give my thoughts.

Eyeshadow Palette:

This palette looks beautiful! It does appear to be all shimmers, which doesn’t bother me, but just be aware of that. Also, the “It’s A Princess Thing” palette from Colourpop is a much better option, in my opinion. The two palettes have a lot of similarities, plus the Colourpop one has more shades, and a good selection of mattes as well. (The Colourpop palette is only $20.00, which, judging by MAC’s price range, will be less expensive than the MAC palette!)

The first shade in the middle row, the pink/blue duo-chrome, did grab my attention, but I already have the Touch in Sol “Holo Mulberry” pigment, which looks very similar. If you are just interested in this palette for that particular shade, it may be less expensive to just buy the pigment separately.

To sum it up, this palette is very beautiful, but if you are looking for a similar, more affordable option with more variety, I would go with the one from Colourpop.

Lipstick:

This is the one piece of this collaboration that I was dead set on picking up. I don’t have a fuchsia lipstick at the moment, and this is so fun! The packaging is absolutely beautiful! Fortunately, I discovered today, that Colourpop has a very similar alternative for this one as well, so I think I will just grab the Jasmine lipstick from the Colourpop x Disney Designer Collection.

In the picture above, it appears that this lipstick shade is a bit lighter than the MAC shade, but in the picture below you can see that it does look fairly similar on the medium skin tone.

This lipstick is also available in a set that includes a gloss and super shock shadow.

I could not find an Aladdin themed dupe for this last one, so if you are interested in this collection for the theming, you may want to pick this one up.

Bronzer:

I love the packaging of this bronzer, and the lamp imprint in the pan is brilliant! I do think I will be passing on this one as well, simply because it looks too deep for my fair skin tone. If you have a skin tone similar to the actress pictured above, I’m sure this would look beautiful on you!

Colourpop also has a few bronzer shades that look similar to the one in this collection. The shade “Rodeo Drive” looks very similar to me, but I would suggest looking at all the shades online to see which one would best fit your skin tone.

I really think the MAC x Aladdin collection is beautiful, but if you want to get more for your money, stick with Colourpop! Also, the Colourpop collection has products themed with other princesses as well, like Belle and Ariel, so go check it out! You can buy the EIGHTEEN piece Colourpop collection for $126.00, which, I’m sure, will be fairly similar to the price of this THREE piece collaboration from MAC!

I hope this post was helpful to those of you who are interested in this collaboration, but want to save money without sacrificing quality or theming!

*There will be a Jasmine Luxe Lipstick giveaway with 3 winners on my YouTube channel next week, so go subscribe!!!*

What’s in My March Ipsy Glambag? + Unique Eye Tutorial

You guys!!!! I just got my March Ipsy Glambag in the mail and I am so excited! I received two full size products! Let’s just go ahead and jump into the products in my bag this month.

1. Full Size Ofra Highlighter in “Star Island”:

I was so happy to see this in my bag! This product retails for $30 (that’s triple the cost of my entire Ipsy bag), so I definitely got my money’s worth this month. I have also really been wanting to try the Ofra highlighters, and this gave me the opportunity. This is a beautiful highlight that can be applied more subtly or built up for a more intense look.

2. Full Size Helios Nail Polish in “Livin’ Lovely”:

I haven’t gotten to try out this polish yet, but it is a lovely dusty pink/mauve color. Just from looking at the polish it seems pretty opaque, and has a thicker, more square shaped brush. I was very pleased to see this full sized, spring colored polish in my bag!

3. REALHER Liquid Lipstick in “I Am Adaptable”:

I have been wanting a classic red lipstick, so I was glad to get this one in a liquid formula. This lipstick is really nice! It has a beautiful color, doesn’t feel overly dry on the lips, and even lasted through eating!! This one is a win for me!

*Note: It is now the end of the day, and I just wanted to point out, that while this lipstick does dry down, it transfers EVERYWHERE. It’s on my couch cushion and I don’t understand how it got there??…*

4. IBY Beauty Poolside Lush Eyeshadow in “Get Soaked”:

This eyeshadow is a very pretty mauve color (scroll down to the tutorial portion of this post to see this shadow in action). It has a slightly buildable pigmentation, but I did notice that the pigment will fade if you blend the shadow too much. It’s a nice shadow to have, but I wouldn’t run out and purchase this one. It just didn’t WOW me.

5. Skyn Iceland Limited Edition Berry Lip Fix:

I just ran out of my current lip balm, and this makes an excellent replacement (though this is technically a lip treatment). I apply a small amount of this to my lips, and there is an instant cooling sensation, which I personally really enjoy. It provides a nice, thin layer of hydration, and I like the berry scent of this product, so, no complaints!

With no real duds, and two full sized products, I think this bag was my favorite Ipsy yet!

Unique Eye Look (I say unique because I used some colors together that I normally would not, because I was trying to create an eye look using the IBY shadow, that would also be wearable with a red lip.)

1. Apply a pinky mauve shade into the crease and onto the lower lash line. (I used the IBY shadow in “Get Soaked”.)

2. Apply a brownish gray shade onto the outer corner, and blend it into the crease. (I will include a picture of the quad that I used so you can get an idea of what shade I am describing.)

3. Lightly buff this same shade onto the lower lash line.

4. Apply a light nude shade to the inner half of the lid.

5. Apply a nude shimmer to the inner half of the lid.

6. Apply a bright highlight to the inner corner. (I used the Ofra Star Island Highlighter.)

7. Apply liner (I went with a mini wing) and mascara.

That’s all there is to the eye look that I created today! I like that it has a bit of warmth from the IBY shadow, but it still allows the red lip to be the statement of this makeup look.

I always love posting about my Ipsy Glambags because they don’t let me down!

Happy Monday!! I hope the rest of your week is AMAZING!!😘

SCAM OR NOT?? + Online Shop With Me! {CHICNYC}

(I do not benefit from this post or the discount code below. I just thought this would be fun!)

Chic NYC reached out to me on Instagram, and asked me to be an ambassador for their brand. I was approved to work with them, and got a discount code to share with my followers (use code CHICNYC at checkout for a discount😘).

I did a feature post for them on my Instagram page (which was suggested, but not required). 👇🏻

I also had a question about the brand yesterday, and I don’t think I adequately answered the question, so I wanted to do a blog post showcasing some of the pieces from this brand. I want to give you guys some quick info about the brand directly from their website, and then show you five pieces from each category that really caught my attention. The pieces from CHICNYC range from classic, to edgy, to trendy and unique. (The following images are directly from the CHICNYC website, and are not my own.)

You need to know: There has been some controversy about whether or not this brand is a scam. Most of these scam claims revolve around the shipping times of the products. This company claims to be based in New York City, and says that all products ship from their design studio in Beijing, China. I was told that my shipping time would be about 15 days, and that was accurate. From my personal experience, the T-shirt and choker that I received from this brand were very good quality. (I received a 50% discount on the shirt and the choker was given to me for free, but this in no way influences my opinion.)

I was given everything that was promised to me, in the approximate promised time frame, so, I think this company is legitimate. I have also seen legitimate proof that this company sends some of their ambassadors to New York Fashion Week. Read through and leave your thoughts in the comments.

Ready to Wear Clothing- This is the section where you can find more casual pieces, business wear, and more.

Gowns- This section is self explanatory, but seriously, look at these!

Handbags- I love the variety of the bags! There are some very unique styles, and some more classic ones.

Eyewear- If you like fashion forward sunglasses, this section is for you!

Jewelry- This section is just… wow!

Shoes- They carry gorgeous boots, flats, and classic heels.

New Arrivals-

I hope this post helped you to get a feel for this brand, and what they are all about, and I hope it was fun for you to see which pieces interested me. (They carry many more pieces than what I have pictured above.)

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!😘

Klezzo Orchid Soap | Organic and Handmade

The Klezzo brand reached out to me recently, and though I wasn’t able to work with them (simply because I have a full blogging and filming schedule), I wanted to feature them in today’s blog post because they were SO kind!

I purchased this product with my own money, and, as always, all opinions are my own. I’m going to use my same little five point breakdown that I always use to review skincare products.

1. Scent- If you like essential oils, I think you would really enjoy the scent of these soaps. You can choose which “aromatherapy oil” that you want to be put into your soap. I chose the eucalyptus scent, so naturally, mine smells like eucalyptus.

2. Texture- This soap is very soft and smooth, but it doesn’t feel oily at all (which surprised me because of the aromatherapy oils in this product).

3. Application- This soap gives a nice, soft lather, which I really enjoy. As it says in the description card that came with my soap, the shape of this soap is really great for massaging sore muscles! I used this after my 40 minute HIIT workout this morning, and it felt nice! I will say that the flower design wears down fairly quickly, but it is nice while it lasts.

4. Removal- The soap rinses off very easily, but it does seem to leave that “squeaky clean” feeling on your skin. This is not my personal favorite, as I prefer to feel really moisturized after a shower, but some people may enjoy that. This is my only real complaint with this product, but it’s really not a big one because I can just put moisturizer on after my shower (which I do anyway).

5. BUT DOES IT WORK??- In my opinion, this product is definitely effective. It cleanses the skin, relaxes sore muscles, and the eucalyptus scent relaxes the mind.

Final Thoughts-

I could definitely see myself repurchasing this product from Klezzo. It is effective and I found it very enjoyable to use. Because the flower design does wear away so quickly, I can see this soap being a “treat yourself” kind of product for me. I may just save it to use after long workouts. I think this is a beautiful product and I would definitely recommend this!

Today’s verses:

6) In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
